Today's Message

Father God, You know our heart’s desire is to live our lives worshipping You. Yet, it is true too, LORD, that it is always good to be able to worship You while free from poor health, and free from our pain and physical discomforts. May it be Your will that this be so. There are many among us who are frail with age. There are some who suffer pain and discomforts. Have mercy on us, LORD, for our eyes and hearts are on You as we worship You. In Jesus name. Amen.

Teaching Series on the Book of Jeremiah by Bishop Rennis Ponniah

April 2018

The Old Testament book of Jeremiah is a 2,500-year-old prophecy that is as relevant to our life today as it was to the Jews at the time.

It is message from and about God who works out his purposes through covenants.

Though more than 500 years before Christ, Jeremiah knew about the arrival of the New Covenant in Jesus that would change everything. The Jews in Jeremiah’s time were either longing for the Messiah to come or, the majority had given up hope and forsaken their God.

But God had not forsaken them.

In the same way, Christians all over the world look forward to Jesus’ second coming but most people in the world couldn’t care less. Jeremiah’s prophecy gives us great encouragement to live faithfully in a world that is in turmoil.

Bishop Rennis spent part of his sabbatical in 2016 to study Jeremiah at a deeper level. God powerfully spoke to Bp Rennis and he now passes the message on to the church in 10 sessions, delivered in five lectures at St Hilda’s Church.

Facing the Impossible: Faith and Hope for Today

3 Feb 2019

“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the Father of many nations, just as it had been said to him ‘So shall your offspring be’. Without weakening in his faith. He faced the fact that his body was as good as dead…yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God but was strengthened…” Rom 4: 18-20.

Abraham met the impossible situation he was facing with faith – this is a deep assurance in God’s word. He also had hope. Hope transforms your life based on your strong faith – it brings the future into the present.

So, how did Abraham, the 100-year old, face the impossible prospect of getting a son at his age and to become the father of the nations? He used a 3-fold strategy:

  1. He admitted his doubts
  2. He aligned himself to God’s Word and Character
  3. He abandoned himself to God’s hands
